Datalaw's Professional Skills Course is 'outstanding, thoughtful, focussed and very well structured' - SRA, March 2015.
The Professional Skills Course is a mandatory course for all trainee solicitors. The PSC must be completed within the training contract period. Trainees must undertake three core modules and at least 24 hours of elective courses. Up to 12 hours of Electives can be completed online via webinar.
The PSC is intended to supplement trainees exposure to practice and build upon skills acquired during the Legal Practice Course (LPC). The PSC, along with the training contract, constitute the final elements of pre-admission training.
As a training organisation, in providing the PSC Datalaw aims to:
- offer a flexible and accommodating timetable
- provide courses of clear benefit and value
- provide courses to reflect a range of practice environments
- tailor courses to reflect professional changes
- develop and adjust courses to match the changing and diverse needs of the profession
- enhance delegate’s continued professional development
Datalaw provide the opportunity to pay for the course in instalments, lessening any financial burden and we can make arrangements for the option of in-house training. Please contact us for further details.
Courses take place regularly throughout the UK in convenient locations and a certificate of completion is issued at the end of the course.
We offer on-hand telephone/email support and advice and always aim to respond to queries within a couple of hours.
There are three core modules:
- Advocacy and Communication Skills
- Financial and Business Skills
- Client Care & Professional Standards
Trainees will undertake an examination in Financial and Business Skills and an advocacy skills appraisal in both Civil and Criminal Advocacy.
